Matt Rosencrans
For more than 40 years, one mission hasn’t changed: help local businesses fill seats, move inventory, and bring customers back. Only the technology has.
Meet the founder
Matt Rosencrans has spent his entire career on a single idea — connecting local businesses with the customers who keep them alive. Since 1982 he has built one marketing venture after another, each making it easier and more affordable for a small business to get noticed. Sendsational is the latest: the local coupon, reinvented for the one screen everyone actually checks — their phone.
Along the way, more than a few people have called Matt a visionary — the rare marketer who saw where local advertising was headed years before the industry caught up, following customers from print to the mailbox to the phone in their pocket. Matt waves the word off. Ask him and he’ll tell you he simply never stopped listening to what local owners actually need to fill seats and bring customers back. Four decades in, that’s still what gets him out of bed: he stays personally involved in the work every day — shaping strategy, sharpening the offer, and staying close to the businesses Sendsational serves. The vision is big; the way he goes about it stays refreshingly down to earth.
A lifetime helping local businesses grow
Book Cover Advertising
Fresh out of high school, Matt sold ad space to Long Island businesses and printed it on wraparound book covers handed out free in schools. The idea caught on fast — he grew it to 30 schools across Long Island while still in college.
Take Out
Next came Take Out, an ad book of 200 restaurants with a single call-in number for orders — a local food-ordering marketplace years before the apps existed.
Community Coupons
Matt founded Community Coupons, a direct-mail coupon book covering Long Island, Rockland County, and New Jersey — local offers delivered straight to the mailbox.
A household name
Through the 2000s, Community Coupons grew into a household name, reaching more than 15,000 homes a month — the golden age of the printed coupon book. Matt spent the decade perfecting what actually makes a local offer work: the right deal, the right timing, and something people keep on the fridge.
The screen changes everything
Then the smartphone rewrote the rules. Mailboxes filled with ignored circulars and email open rates cratered — but one channel kept getting opened almost every time: the text message. The local coupon needed a new home, and Matt saw exactly where it was headed.
Sendsational goes national
Matt took 40 years of local-offer instinct and rebuilt it for the phone. Sendsational is now a national text-marketing company serving businesses across the U.S. — done-for-you picture-coupon campaigns powered by its own technology for sending, redemption tracking, and even in-location sign-up kiosks.
Built for the new age
Matt isn’t slowing down. Sendsational keeps growing and innovating — building modern software and tools that make results-driven text marketing effortless for business owners, and carrying the coupon into whatever comes next.
The same great idea — finally on the right screen
There’s a reason Sendsational works the way it does. Matt spent decades perfecting the local coupon — what makes an offer irresistible, when to send it, and how to prove it worked. The mailbox and the book cover did their job for their era. But today, people don’t read the mail — they read their texts.
Sendsational takes the coupon Matt has been refining for 40 years and delivers it where it actually gets seen, opened, and used — with a unique code tracking every redemption. Same instinct for what drives local customers. Far better screen.
How Matt thinks about marketing
Use the customers you’ve already earned
The cheapest customer to win back is the one who already knows you.
Make it done-for-you
Owners are busy — they shouldn’t have to become SMS strategists, designers, and analysts.
Prove it
Every campaign answers one question: did it bring customers in? Real tracking, not vague engagement.
Keep it local and personal
Real offers, real response, real relationships — the way local marketing should feel.
